Australian wombat - IMG 1176

The Australian wombat (Vombatus ursinus) is the world's largest burrowing animal. The gaping entrances to their cavernous networks of tunnels are easy to discover in the heart of any forest environment that they inhabit, but catching a glimpse of one of these appealing native animals is not so easy, for they are nocturnal. This beautiful animal was photographed in the wild at dusk in the Dharug National Park in NSW, Australia .
